# eTuning

## Platforms and licenses

- eTuning is available for Android, iPhone, Windows and native macOS. eTuning desktop supports SM-PCE02 on Windows and Mac.
- Licenses are linked to the motor serial number, not to a particular phone, computer or interface. Each motor requires its own valid license for paid functions.
- Pro is available for compatible EP801 and EP6/EP600 motors. Windows and Mac recognize Pro licenses for Plus functions; Pro's direct Bluetooth configuration runs on Android and iPhone.
- Available settings depend on the motor, firmware, license and connection method. Check the official compatibility tool or connect the bike with the current app.

## EP801 and EP6 / EP600

- With Pro, compatible EP801 and EP6/EP600 motors support changes to both region and wheel circumference directly by Bluetooth from Android or iPhone. SM-PCE02 is not required for this route.
- With Plus, initial region and wheel configuration requires Shimano SM-PCE02 and eTuning for Windows/Mac. Afterwards, Android or iPhone can repeatedly adjust the supported maximum speed within the configured region limit without reconnecting the interface. This subsequent mobile speed adjustment is not a Plus Bluetooth region/wheel change.
- Other settings may still require an interface. Do not infer that Pro Bluetooth supports every desktop function.
- EP6 and EP600 identify the same motor family. EP800/EP8 and EP801 are different motor generations; do not interchange their procedures.

## EP5 / EP500

- EP5/EP500 still requires SM-PCE02 with eTuning for Windows/Mac for initial speed/region configuration.
- There is no documented Pro option for this motor family. Do not apply the EP801/EP6 Pro Bluetooth route to EP5/EP500.

## Older compatible Shimano STEPS motors

- Supported older motors include EP800/EP8, E8000, E7000, E6100 and E5000, depending on firmware and exact setup.
- Compatible mobile configuration uses the current Android or iPhone app. Any supported preparation is guided inside the app; old manual downgrade instructions, old Android phones and manual DATA-folder file copying are not the current workflow.
- Desktop configuration with a compatible interface is also available where supported. Check the exact motor and firmware rather than assuming every model has the same functions.

## Shimano SM-PCE02

- SM-PCE02 connects by USB to the computer and through a compatible Shimano E-TUBE port to the bike. On a complete bike, a free port in the display or handlebar switch area is normally used.
- It is not a tuning chip and is not permanently installed or linked to one bike. The same interface can be reused for multiple compatible bikes, each with its own motor license for paid functions.
- An interface may be bought, borrowed or used at a workshop. A replacement cable or small adapter alone is not the complete SM-PCE02 interface.
- eTuning supports Windows/Mac desktop configuration. Official Shimano E-TUBE desktop recovery is a separate workflow requiring Windows, not Mac.
